Now that you have scheduled your instillation date, we have provided a list of pre-installation details for you which will ensure a problem free installation for both you and our installers:
Door Cutting
Our installers will gladly remove hinged doors and replace them after your new flooring is installed. If, however, your new flooring is thicker than your old flooring, the doors will need trimming for proper clearance. In this instance the doors will be left off their hinges so you can trim the doors.
Moldings
Baseboard moldings, in most installations, will have to be removed. This will be determined by the thickness of your new product and its application. Our installers will work with the molding, but will not be responsible for breakage and scratches. You will be responsible for touching up the baseboard moldings after the installation.
Removing your Existing Floor Covering
You will need to know how you will dispose of your old flooring before installers arrive. If you are going to remove the old carpet and pad yourself, please leave the existing tack strip down, only if the area is being replaced with carpet. Consult with your Maguire's expert for complete details on our removal and disposal service.
Color Changes & Shading
Many of today's high luster fabrics display a light or dark shade difference in color depending on the direction the carpet is laid in the room, the amount of light, and what kind of light is in the room.
Pattern Matching
Due to the nature of the manufacturing process, most print and multi-tone patterns are impossible to match exactly. Many of these styles will require additional yardage to achieve the closest match possible.
Sanding
If your installation requires sanding, it is a good idea to cover all cupboards and furniture in the adjacent rooms. If a lot of sanding is to be done, you may want to seal off the room with plastic.
Warmth & Space
Maguire's installers will need their space and warm temperature to install your flooring. This may be your garage, mechanical room or deck depending on the appropriate situation and climate.
Material Waste
Every installation has material waste; these leftover pieces are most common in irregular rooms, or when stairs and halls are recovered.
Carpet Seams
Maguire's installers are among the best in the industry and Maguire's will ensure that your seams are completed to the industry's standards. Today's heat-bonded seams are as strong as the rest of the carpet; however, the seams themselves will always have slightly more height to them because of the seam tape. Maguire's uses the best quality seam tape that the industry has to offer. Our installers take great pride in making the seams as inconspicuous as possible.
Empty Rooms, Please!
Rooms and closets that will be resurfaced must be emptied. Please remember, for both your protection and ours, if the rooms are not cleared before delivery, our company will not be liable for any damage that might occur, directly or indirectly, while handling your property; this includes electronics.
Dining Rooms & Dens
Remove all your breakables (ashtrays, plates, vases, lamps, and collectibles) prior to moving the actual furniture; make sure all electrical components are disconnected before you attempt to move your stereo, computer, VCR or TV. Our installers are not responsible for reconnecting these items.
Kitchen & Utility Areas
Disconnect your washer, dryer, and all gas appliances. Our installers are not responsible for disconnecting or reconnecting any appliances.
Bedrooms
Your beds need to be stripped and moved prior to our installation. Our installers will not move your beds from room to room.
Bathrooms
If flooring is going to be installed, please arrange for the toilet bowl to be removed prior to the installers' arrival.
